We’ve got a special guest, Andrea Nicholson, joining us—a former Crime Scene Investigator who made a huge pivot into the world of holistic health. Her story is not only wild (in the best way), but also super inspiring if you’re someone who’s been told “everything looks fine” but knows something deeper is going on with your body.

Andrea is now a Holistic Nutrition Practitioner and metabolic health expert—and y’all, her insights on insulin resistance, gut health, and how it all connects are next level.

From CSI to Functional Medicine Detective

I mean, come on—how cool is that? Andrea literally used to solve crime scenes for a living. But when she was diagnosed with early-stage heart disease at only 28 (despite “doing everything right”), she started turning that investigative lens inward.

She wasn’t satisfied with generic answers and “try eating low-fat and working out more.” So she took matters into her own hands—diving deep into research, holistic nutrition, and eventually functional medicine. And that’s what ultimately helped her uncover what was really driving her symptoms.

Her Turning Point: When Healthy Choices Weren’t Enough

Andrea had already gone plant-based. She was exercising regularly. She thought she was doing all the right things. But her health markers just kept getting worse. Her “arterial age” was older than her actual age, and her energy was tanked.

That’s when she realized there had to be more going on—and she was right.

What she discovered? Underlying gut imbalances + early signs of insulin resistance. Things most doctors overlook or only catch when they’re already full-blown problems.
